Bird Friendly High Solar Window Glass

by Harry Richardson on May 26, 2015

Have you heard about the number of birds that fly into building windows?

Walker Glass has created bird friendly glazing that prevents bird collisions by having visual markers on the outside surface. The markers are spaced 4″ vertically and 2″ horizontally. These markers are acid-etched and can be put on solar control low-e coated windows, too.

A problem with the visual markers is the people inside don’t like to see the markers. Research is progressing to find a middle ground that deters the birds and still is pleasing to the building occupants.
